Four stars because I spent the last three chapters crying.

Cooper visits his friend´s farm, only to learn the business is not going well and his friend Drew is thinking about selling the farm. For Cooper that is not an option, so he decides to stay and help with farm, even though he has to share room with his long-term crush Whit and the two cannot go two minutes without arguing. So you know we are in for enemies to lovers with a bit of forced proximity.

The book had a bit slow start for me, but after I read halfway through I really fell in love with the characters, especially Cooper with his energy.

So yes cute, short and sweet and I will probably check out other works by this author.

So I absolutely adored this!!!!!!!!! The farm setting and all the characters (animal and human). It was such a cozy, warm read for me. I usually don't love single POV books but I adored being in Cooper's head the entire time. He was so funny and down to earth. The pining was so top tier in this because Cooper has had a crush on Whit for yearsssssss that is "unrequited". Cooper and Whit even kissed years prior to the novel starting but both men act like it never happened. Which I think added a nice little edge to the pining. And I think it takes a gifted writer to make you feel like you understand the love interest in single POV books. At times I felt like I understood Whit, like I was in his head, but really I was just seeing him from Cooper's POV.

I loved the whole "saving" the farm aspect of this because it just showed how sweet of a character Cooper is. He cares so much about everyone else but his family just kind of kept failing him. And then of course there was Whit who seemed to always be stoney and cold around him which of course we find out why at the end. Their push and pull and their banter was so much fun. Then of course I loved how it was a "Friends with benefits" situation even though it was kind of slowly breaking Cooper's heart. Because he wanted Whit so much and just took whatever he could get. But even as a reader it was easy to see that it wasn't just a hook up for Whit either. Even the sex scenes were so tender and sweet.

“I constantly annoy you,” Cooper says.

“You don’t. I get—I get frustrated with myself. Around you. Cooper, I can’t think straight.”

I especially loved the grand gesture at the end. If felt very fitting for their relationship. Sweet. It's very clear throughout the novel that neither of them open up a lot to other people, but they slowly opened up to one another. Even when it was hard I.e. Cooper's mom and Whit's family. I also adored Penny and Drew. I might even read their book... just because I'd love to see more of this setting and see Whit and Cooper hopelessly in love. Penny was such a fun spitfire. I loved her always calling Whit out in Spanish in front of Cooper, and him not understanding. But as a reader I could translate it and know she's giving Whit shit! Fun.

Anyway... long rambly review just to say this was so cozy and was exactly the read I needed at the moment. It made me really happy. These guys made me really happy. The end.

solid. Very sitcom-y. Loved their dynamics and all the bickering but penny definitely is who stole the entire show, can't wait to actually read her and drew's book (because he's me and I'm him<3)

Ah! Heart squishies! That ending was so worth it! Also, totally didn’t realize this had spice and I tend to steer clear of spice so I won’t be commenting on that.

I just finished it so I may come back to redo my rating. But for now:

The good: we love farmers, they make the world go round, and Cooper and Whit definitely make my heart go round. Their chemistry was fun even when they were at each other’s throats because of the undercurrent of unresolved feelings. The plot line took turns I didn’t anticipate and characterization was revealed so smoothly (that thing about the mom really sold me)

The bad: I honestly wanted more of Drew and Penny’s personalities. I know they have a sequel but I’m not going to read it because it’s a m/f relationship which isn’t my cup of tea. I don’t mind lack of communication/miscommunication tropes because those feelings are valid but I know some people do, so there’s that.

The Ugly: Whit? Penny? Also, one of the Spanish translations are wrong and it killed me inside. I felt like more of an effort could be put in if you’re going to include Hispanic characters. And whit’s dad is named Luis. Like you obviously know what a Spanish name should be. That’s the reason this gets docked points honestly. Maybe Diana was not hispanic? I have a hispanic aunt named Diana (Dya-nah) so I’m only giving the author some leeway for that.

Overall: 3 stars is a good book I enjoyed and I’m actually probably going to buy this in paperback if it’s available. Would recommend for some light fun reading.

I didn’t like Connor repeating inner monologues. The name „whit“ was at times annoying to read in a sentence -> it broke the reading flow
Predictable ending. Whits Jealousy of Brad = understandable, Connors Jealousy of Drew = not so much 🫢😅
