Gonna listen to the next book in the series to see how the whole shebang could get worse.
The intimacy, relationship development, and spice are not what makes this story remotely enjoyable. Don't get this title expecting much of a plot or any depth of characters, either. This brings nothing to the table and may actually be removing table legs while gouging crude drawings in the surface.
Bee Ay Dee - not great. Just not worth a listen beyond being impressed at how miserable a readng/listening experience could be. Ruby Dixon, this ain't.

Simon and Tory.
Sweet fluffy goodness at it's best. Short and shallow but made me snicker and smile.
Tory is a 24 year old vampire and has been sheltered not only by her family but by the whole town. She longs to spread her wings (and not just when she is in bat form). She travels away to stay with her older brother and meets Simon. Simon who is a 300+ year old werewolf and has no clue that there are other werewolves, let along Vampires etc. He is used to getting what he wants with no effort and is pretty full of himself. But Tory puts him in his place each time. Not in a mean way, but more just by happy accident. It's stories like this one that keep me coming back to this author even though I find her stuff pretty hit or miss. This one was a definite hit!

A fascinating new vampire mythology...
Magic is full of hilarious supernaturals and Tory and the Carsons are that and your normal protective vampire family. This sweet short story is fun for an afternoon read.

The story was pretty fast paced with its theme of fantasy and well, inter-specie romance. The character depth wasn't excellent but was still okay. A werewolf alpha and a damsel who will later on shock you, is a good combination. I really liked Tory and as for Simon, he is not bad. Passable. But together, they make a good story.

Definitely not as enjoyable as I remember liking this when I was younger.
when Smith does it right I really enjoy her, and this was done right. but dear LORD the woman needs to learn not to rely on spellchecker. this wasn't a horrid offender but still. spellchecker is not your best friend. it's not.
5 out of 5 stars! Wanting to finally spread her "wings," Tory's older brother allows her to accompany him on a trip to Charleston, South Carolina and unintentionally finds her mate.
This fast-paced paranormal romantic comedy keeps you entertained the whole way through! Tory and Simon's whirlwind romance was fun to read, especially as they go about learning each other. Then even though I found the ending to be a little abrupt, it helped that this novel has a full cast of enjoyable characters that keep you wanting to read more. I HIGHLY recommend this one!
