There’s just too much in this, and it’s also just sort of corny. Too many “really??” Moments and eye rolling. But I did finish it.
Twisty - all came together in the end. Solid thriller !

This would probably have been a solid 3 if not for the muahaha-y villain dialogue at the end. The absolute worst. It's like he went to the Mediocre Thriller Villain School of Language and Taxidermy.*
*no, there's no actual taxidermy in this book. It dodged that cliche, at least. Just seems like it would be a thing.
The first 100 pages were pretty slow and repetitive and I kind of skimmed through. Then it started to get interesting. Then the ending was your typical Generic Evil Guy, and I lost interest again. Sadie is a star, though. What a good girl. 🐕🦺

I've never read anything by Terri Parlato before and if her other works are as good as this on she's become my newest "auto-buy" author. The depth of the story, the background into the characters and the twists in the plot weave together for a cohesive and entertaining read (finished this in two days). It was an interesting perspective shift though, while the series is based on cases worked by Detective Rita Myers, the main POV seems to be that of the wife/victim, versus the Detective carrying the main character role.

Rounded up to 3. Likes the beginning but last half was ridiculous
I LOVED this book. I suspected literally everyone and was still surprised when everything was revealed.
What an excellent debut. This book was a super twisty thriller with multiple POV's. I love how a tragedy from the past intertwines with the present.
It was so fun seeing how it all fit together. As with the MC, I was second-guessing her husband as well. This book goes to show you don't always know the people closest to you. I will definitely be reading whatever comes next from this author.
If you're an audiobook lover like I am, I recommend the audio of this one. It was really well done.
