I think Chloe Gong just has this way of writing that makes it all the more enjoyable and pleasant to read, while also crushing my soul to bits.

ok let me just start off by saying that the violent delights duology was NOT for me ok so i had little expectations going into this book but holy crap i LOVED THIS BOOK SOOOO MUCH! the writing here was just so much better!! the pacing, the foreshadowing, the politics, etc. everything was just chef’s kiss!!!!! i love orion with my entire heart like i need him RIGHT NOW (also the second book)

this book did not disappoint. i found the first 70% to be quite long, it didn’t feel like anything significant happened in the span of 400 pages. but once page 450 hit, it FLEW!!!
so many crazy plot twists and the CLIFFHANGER? chloe gong should be in jail for that. how do i wait two months now??
