The second saint gets into some real shit in this book. What a cliffhanger. Gianna’s role is a little obvious, but with characterization this strong, who cares? (Also love the pretty clear LOTR/Gondor/Rohan-esque nature of these kingdoms)

I felt similarly about the second book as I did the first. I was committed to reading it, and will probably read the next one, but I found myself not as excited to read it. The middle part of the book was slower and more filled with angst. Another big plot twist at the end, and I’m curious to see how many books are in this series and how the author decides to pull it all together. The characters didn’t grow on me but also didn’t great on me.
