Even though this is a YA book, I still enjoy a little happy romance every once in a while and Katie McGarry is one of my favorites.
it was good but also vaguely giving 2016 wattpad???
i love drix, elle is kind of really naive
the ending felt like it was wrapped up too nicely?also elle kind of went behind drix’s back to save him. he told her he didn’t want to be proven innocent to protect the program and save more people, yet ofc she has to go off and save him bc it’s what SHE wants. then the program ends up (probably) being fine after she tells the world he’s innocent i feel like that and everything else falls into place way too easily
also??? they’re 17/18????? and elle blew up her entire life for him??????

I received this through NetGalley.
After taking the fall for a crime he didn't commit, spending time in juvie, and going through a new wilderness program created by the governor, Drix wants to completely transform his life. He is expected to be the poster boy for the wilderness program and participate in the governor's campaign. While there, Drix meets and begins to fall in love with the governor's daughter, Ellison. She is the perfect daughter, or has become the perfect daughter because her parents have molded her into the best example of child. Ellison wants to be a computer coder, but her parents have convinced her that she needs to fulfill her commitment to the campaign before even thinking about coding. Will Drix be able to maintain his transformation and will Elle be able to become the person she is meant to be? Will their love survive in the midst of all of this?
I didn't find myself overly connected to the characters. I found myself having trouble keeping track of the minor characters.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Review, blog tour, and Giveaway can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
Katie McGarry know how to pull my heartstrings with her books! She always presents young characters at the crisp of becoming adults where all the choices are laid before them with the uncertainties that follow too.
In "Say you'll remember me" Drix a reformed criminal, even if he never committed the crime, who just wants to get as many second chances as he can get through the governor's pet project. He knows that he must be at the best of his behavior and he is truly committed to being the perfect example.
And then he meets Elle, the governor's daughter who has to deal with being the perfect example of a Governor's daughter, even if it means that she has to drown in desperation, the limelight and also pressure herself in becoming something that she is not. The two of them will form a tentative friendship which evolves into romance.
I really enjoyed how good the writing was here. Katie manages to create two characters, socially different from one another and yet they couldn't be more similar. They both struggle to become something they are not and the parallel mystery behind Drix's jail-time also offered a good pacing to the plot.
The romance was bitter-sweet and at some times heart-breaking. But they do pull through both Elle and Drix and I truly enjoyed seeing their journey towards their own HEA.

I haven't read any of Katie McGarry's previous books, but I picked up the ARC and chatted with her at YALSA a few months ago. Say You'll Remember Me has two compelling romantic leads in Elle and Drix, who have very different backgrounds, but both have complex family situations. This will make a great recommendation for contemporary romance readers looking who enjoy a little more conflict than the average high school romance brings.

I always fall for Katie’s characters. Eric and Elle are no exception. I loved them both and how they were just trying to navigate life while figuring out who they were.
It was a bit long but I love her writing style and this spin on kids from different backgrounds was interesting. I can’t wait for her next book.
