I really enjoyed McGarry's Pushing the Limits series, so I thought I'd give this a try. This author is a great writer, and even though the story was slower than my natural pace, it is still a cute 'first love' story.

This was such a wonderful read, and really eye-opening too. The story covers broken families, and the love that can repair it. I may not be able to write my own books but I know a good read when I see one, and this is definitely one of them. Fully recommend you read it too !

A great book that tackles star-crossed lovers. I hadn't read a YA book that fell into forbidden love in a while, and I enjoyed that it wasn't over something totally stupid and that Drix and Elle had actual problems and obstacles in life that truly prevented them from being together. I absolutely love that Elle was written so that she doesn't come off as privileged and ungrateful in comparison to Drix, which is the angle that's really easy for an author to take with such a character. Her problems were explained in a very valid way. And, Drix. I literally love him after reading this book. He has been through HELL and the way his character developed was so good. His conflict between pursuing Elle and staying away from her was so good and well-paced. I'm glad that it wasn't written so that he was like "fuck it" and went for her at first sight. He truly has been through a lot and I was happy to see the family dynamic and how they all stayed together and were there for each other despite being through some serious shit. I did end up predicting who Drix ultimately took the fall for though, it seemed just a little too obvious.
