I'll admit that the start of the book is paced in a slow, dull way - maybe intentionally, to give us a feel for Eleanor's dull and repetitive life. But stick with it. I usually allow books 100 pages to hook me in, but for Eleanor Oliphant I recommend reading up to page 150 before you decide it's not for you. It's worth the wait!
Graphic: Emotional abuse and Suicidal thoughts
Moderate: Fatphobia
Fatphobia from the main character, mostly as a classist attitude from her upbringing. Suicidal thoughts turn up during the story (although these are expressed in Eleanor's dry tones), and emotional abuse appears in buckets thanks to the terrifying figure of "Mummy".backlistsandbooze's review against another edition
