If you're an awkward young adult who has a big heart, but struggles to connect with your peer group as well as with childhood trauma, then this is the book for you. It's the good, the bad, and the ugly of recovery and self-discovery. Minor spoiler: Eleanor has a well-deserved happy ending, one of which we all deserve. ♡

This brilliant story took me by surprise by how much I enjoyed it. An unreliable first-person narrator with Mental Weirdness and a mysterious sordid past who ends up getting major character development, what's not to love here?

I'll admit that the start of the book is paced in a slow, dull way - maybe intentionally, to give us a feel for Eleanor's dull and repetitive life. But stick with it. I usually allow books 100 pages to hook me in, but for Eleanor Oliphant I recommend reading up to page 150 before you decide it's not for you. It's worth the wait!
