A short but powerful account of the author’s flight from Paris, accompanied by his wife, as the Germans descend upon France.

Interesting to read an unsung experience of World War 2, that of a war refugee. This autobiography follows Werth's search with his wife for their son. The book feels chaotically written and while that is representative of their experience it made it difficult to read at times.
