Whelp, boys & girls, I have decided not to review this novel. I know. I know. Y'all are oh. so. disappointed. Tis the way the cookie crumbles. Why am I not reviewing thus disappointing the masses? Let me tell ya a tale. It's the tale of a girl and a book jacket.
See, I'm the kinda fella (okay not a fella but whateva) who doesn't like spoilers. Some, like my beautiful bestie, adore them, can't get enough of them, feel as if they have opened up a Christmas present early when they find them.
Me. I'm the opposite. As in, I don't shake my presents and I don't watch movie trailers for fear they will show all the good parts and ruin a movie for me. That goes for books I'm dying to read, no reviews, no comments, no nothin' till I've read it.
So, in preparation for Clockwork Princess, I stayed away from any and all news. Imagine my surprise when that backfired in my face. There I was reading chapter two when I noticed a weeee bit of writing on the backside of the book jacket. A curious cat, I thought what person in their right mind would okay a huge spoiler on the book jacket. I flipped that bad boy over faster than a pancake and before I even knew what I was gazing upon BAM! spoiler.
And not your "oh, but there's still more to come kinda spoiler" oh no I hit the mother load of all spoilers. And YES it's the one your thinking of and NO I may not ship it but dammit it was HUGE! SO there I sat wondering what in the world was wrong with a publisher who'd put something so huge on the jacket where anyone as curious as myself could accidentally run into it. And then I was told there were warnings, as if this makes it better. Cause honestly, that's assuming all people use goodreads or any other social media to track book news. Not to mention, assuming that being warned would stop people from peeking, cause again WHO PUTS A SPOILER THAT BIG ON THE BOOK JACKET!?!?!?!!!
Furthermore, this does a disservice to the author, cause she's spent all this time plotting and planning and writing her little heart out only to have the biggest HOLY CRAP moment in her book destroyed by a silly little gimmick like a family tree on the book jacket instead of at the back of the book where it is clearly in the "do not read unless you want to be spoilered" section! Cause that's what the family tree on the inside of the book jacket is, my fellow readers. A gimmick to get us to shell out the money for the hardcover. The limited edition, only to be gotten now, buy it or you're never gonna get it!
SO, in summation, I am not reviewing this book because my whole reading experience was destroyed by a ridiculous gimmick. (No I am not being dramatic! So THERE! *stomps foot*)
I'm gonna do Ms. Clare a solid (because, you know, her success verges on my reviews) & bite my tongue and not blame her, her characters, her writing style, or anything she could have controlled for a book jacket she had nothing to do with (or so I'm assuming and you know what they say about assuming...). Is it reasonable that I make such a stink about a simple spoiler? Should I just love the book despite it for it's style and the beauty of it's writing?
Here's my thoughts: After figuring out the outcome I had nothing to look forward to and could only stew in both my anger and disappointment. Thus, the whole reading experience was tainted and I felt there was nothing to look forward to. Drama queen? Maybe. But it's the truth, plain and simple. And I've spied others with the same feeling. Right or wrong, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Once again, ranting has left me both satisfied and strangely hungry.

Absolutely fabulous! After reading the Mortal Instruments I was uncertain. However the amazing Jem, Tessa, & Will have collectively restored my faith in this universe once again.

SO MANY FEELS! I simply cannot review this book until I get a hold of myself.
Io non piango normalmente, né per libri né per serie tv, nemmeno se il mio personaggio preferito muore. Ma questo libro mi ha spezzato il cuore e ci ha messo un cerotto sopra. Ha alzato a livelli improponibili i miei standard in fatto di relazioni romantiche e probabilmente morirò zitella per questo, ma a me sta bene così. Perché sei non posso avere un amore come quello di Tessa e Will o di Tessa e Jem allora non lo voglio.
I am broken. Literally so good I was just not crazy about how she was with jem in the end. It just seemed too perfect? That she was able to have them both? I don’t know but other than that, this book really put me through the ringer and that my friend deserves 4 stars.
A little steamier than thew other two the series, this book ends on a bittersweet note about mortality – but unlike most immortal and mortal love stories, this doesn’t come across as creepy or predatorial. It does help that Tessa is actually the same age and doesn’t just look it, but even skipping forward in time it is still better than Twilight in that aspect. Lacking in much resolution on the clockwork creatures as it was kinda a case of “Suddenly Demons!” which should have been expected but I was hoping that it was a more mundane tech vs Shadowhuters style book. Not disappointed, there were just other things it could have been that may or may not have been more interesting.
