WOW. Okay, fine. I cried at that epilogue. A LOT. Like maybe more than I've ever cried before from reading a book. I was prepared for it to destroy me but nothing could have prepared me for that.
First of all, I want to talk about how this book is so much better than it's predecessors.
It gripped me all the way through. Even though it was the longest, it was definitely the least boring. There was so much happening. So many revelations we get to finally learn, and all these clues from the earlier books paying off.
And yes, it was sad. I had heard it was sad and was prepared for a tragic ending. But... It wasn't exactly a tragic ending, it was just emotional? BUT THEN THERE WAS THE EPILOGUE SKHOHIHOTRDJK
I didn't know how much I love these characters... but I really love these characters. And they have grown so much. Tessa, Will, Jem, Cecily, Sophie, Charlotte, Henry, Jessamine, Gabriel, Gideon and even Bridget will forever be in my heart.
BUT! Although it might be the most sad and emotional book I've ever read it was also so funny. . We have Will's trademark humor, obviously. And the letters Gideon and Gabriel wrote made me actually laugh out loud. There was this perfect balance. I really liked the first books, but they weren't perfect. I was not expecting this book to be so perfect and amazing. But it was.
Something I have to discuss:
Jessamine especially broke my heart. She was so misunderstood and sad and lonely.
Life is full of risks. Death is much simpler.
Initially, I was disappointed by
But then that epilogue came and my feelings are all over the place. I no longer want to change anything about this book.
This is was messy, heartbreaking, beautiful perfection.

Jessamine's death. It moved me very close to tears and I loved her ghostly reappearance. Jessamine has always been one of my favorite characters. Maybe because I knew her what her fate would be from the beginning (I spoiled it for myself accidently) But I also just really felt for her?? I actually often find myself sympathizing with unlikeable characters. Unlikeable characters who often die, now that I think about it...Jessamine especially broke my heart. She was so misunderstood and sad and lonely.

Spoiler
. Jem's becoming a Silent Brother. He was so adamant he didn't want to become one, wanted to take more of the yin fen so he could live a full life. And what kind of life is a life where you can't marry or love, or even see the people you love, can't play music, can't even talk? At first I actually would have preferred if he died. But then that epilogue came and my feelings are all over the place. I no longer want to change anything about this book.

This was a perfect conclusion to the series!!!! I was so confused on how she would conclude the books in a way that made sense and provided a good ending. She did it in a way that I was not expecting, but that's why we read right? To learn and understand that there is more to what we see. She did it in a creative way that made her a person of interest to me. Looking for more by her in the future...

Clockwork Princess, The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare
This prequel/trilogy was a romp - I loved the historical elements, the classic snarky Cassandra Clare characters, and the drama-filled twists and turns.
I am still reflecting on how I felt the last book's romance moments were weaved—it felt a little messy and hard to fall into at times, but that was partially due to how much happened between the characters in this book.
The characters I enjoyed a lot, as with any other book of Clare's, and the Shadowhunter lore overall is always so interesting. It was great to see the originating moments of certain technology/things that come into play later in the story.
Overall, I certainly enjoyed this trilogy - I think the second book was strongest for me, and I can't wait to finish up the Mortal Instruments series next!

This book was the best thing that ever happened to me and i cried during every chapter. The epilogue was the saddest part but i love how it ended. She gets to live a full life with both of her lovers. But i feel like she will get so lonely when jem is gone like why cant he be immortal with her!

Oh Jem… Why did you have to make me cry this much?
