If only Naomi hadn’t picked heads. Her life would have been so different. She wouldn’t have fallen down the steps and woken up with amnesia, she wouldn’t have met James, and most importantly she wouldn’t be questioning herself. When Naomi wakes up from her fall she finds herself in a hospital bed not remembering anything past 12 years old. This means she doesn’t remember her parents divorce, her tennis star boyfriend, and why her best friend Will calls her “Chief.” With the help of her dad and Will Naomi slowly starts to piece her life back together. The only thing is she’s still not sure who she used to be and really isn’t sure if she still wants to be that person. Naomi even begins to question what she ever saw in Ace and wonders why she can’t get James out of her mind. As the weeks go by Naomi finds it difficult at times, especially dealing with rude kids in school, but over time she starts to build her life back up, even if it’s not the same as it used to be. But she always wonders if she will ever remember again.
This was a breathtaking and emotional book. It was stupendous to say the least. I loved the story line and thought it was completely original. I loved how Naomi got to reinvent herself. I mean who wouldn’t want to make themselves the real person that they were meant to be? Not only was the story good, but Gabrielle Zevin’s writing style was phenomenal. She created three dimensional characters who you wished were your best friends. They dealt with real issues and felt real love. Also there was a deep level of emotion written into the pages. The last chapter of the book made me so sad, but not sad sad, almost like a happy sad. This was the first time a book had made me feel this way and I really liked how the author was able to provoke feeling with just her words. This was an all around great book that I think is a must read for any teenager. It provides realism with a bit of humor and just really couldn’t get much better!

Could you imagine losing four years of your life? There are people who wish to forget a few years of their life because they regret something they have done or because they have lost someone they love. But for Naomi the reason to lose four years of her life was a coin toss.
I liked Naomi. She was authentic and likable.
Will also was great. He was the nerdy guy, who always created mix tapes for Naomi for remembering.
The only one I didn't like was James. He was this emo guy. "Bohoo, life is so hard, blah blah blah.." Urgh. Who needs that? This is just annoying and maybe something bad happened to you, but it also happened to thousand other people and they lead ordinary lives and don't need to behave like helpless puppies.
Other than that I really liked the story. I loved the mix tapes. It reminded me a bit of "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist". It was a cute story. I'm just loving me some contemporary right now.

A great books except with the fact that James's nickname was Jims. I didn't like it for personal reasons, but other than that it was great.

The plot deserves 4 stars.
The development of the story is a 3.
I give the book a 4 just for the writing.
It's really hard for me to review this book because I have mixed-feelings about it, maybe because I don't really like memory loss books, I half liked [b:Forget You|7129588|Forget You|Jennifer Echols|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1311064362s/7129588.jpg|7039736] by Jennifer Echols ( and it's one of my favorite authors so...). I really liked the first segment of the story it was about how Naomi was dealing with her memory loss. It was interesting to see her building a new life, like a blank slate and see a new Naomi come out of the ashes.
Unfortunately her mood swings made her look more like a schizophrenic than an amnesiac. I couldn't keep up with her, with who she liked, who she didn't like anymore. It was a bit exhausting because at the end I didn't recognize her at all. Adding to that, I didn't feel the connexion with James, and Naomi was a bit annoying at times.
So why did I give it 4 stars and not 3?
The plot was interesting and the writing style of the author was flawless. I read it at one sitting and the beginning of the book was emotional, that's why it deserved an extra star.
I read [b:All These Things I've Done|9858517|All These Things I've Done (Birthright, #1)|Gabrielle Zevin|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1316730655s/9858517.jpg|13155860] first so I had high expectations for this book. Even if the book didn't turn out the way I thought it would, it was still an enjoyable read.

Some it was lovely, others were underdeveloped. From not talking to her mum to sending letters to her sister?? I still liked it though, was enjoyable
