Hope
Gives me hope that the Obama’s made it to the White House. Michelle is a strong women who is using her voice for so much good, even if a bit reluctantly. I am grateful that so does and continues.

I love Michelle Obama even more after reading this book! She opens up and shares pieces of herself in such a lovely way. She embraces her successes and owns her faults.

I almost never read autobiographies, memoirs, or biographies. I happened upon a copy of this and the timing just seemed right. Plus, I'd always admired Michelle Obama and was curious how a confident, intelligent, no-nonsense lawyer made the transition to First Lady. Reading this in 2019, it was hard not to feel a deep sense of nostalgia, as Obama brings us back through her own story to such a historic point of our own. It's well-paced, and like its author, positive, grounded, and authentic. Definitely a feel good read with the kind of hope and positive message sorely needed today.

One of the best, most inspiring books I’ve ever read. Before reading Becoming, I didn’t think I could love or admire her more but this book proved me wrong. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

Excellent book. Clearly written, made me feel like I was her best friend. She took me on her journey as if I was right there by her side. It was deeply personal and provided insight into her thinking and her experiences as a woman, mother, wife, daughter, sister other family member and friend. She provided the fill-in-the blank answers to her relationships with her family and her work.
Reading the book made me admire her even more than I already did as First Lady of the United States. She allowed us, the readers, to feel what she felt; the joys, the anger, and the concerns of her life over the years and events covered by the book.

I still can't fathom a country that would turn from such gracious, intelligent leadership to such a state of buffoonery. I mourn the Obama era.

Michelle speaks so openly about hopes and frustrations and accomplishments, in a way presidents themselves can't. I appreciated hearing how she struggled to hold to her own core values despite lots of pressures to change priorities. She continually reminded the reader to know themselves, and that they belong wherever they are, and wherever they are aspiring to.
