This book took me less than an hour to read. Yes, I am an adult, but this is about 80 pages, has big words, and pictures taking up space on some of the pages. I do like these illustrations, they're pretty cute and look like other Dahl illustrations. I didn't like this book like I do other Dahl works. I try to think about if I would have enjoyed a book as a kid, but I don't even think that I would have unless I was really young. I thought it was cute and I liked how the animals are friends, but the plot didn't really go anywhere and, although there were a few clever lines, it wasn't as clever as Dahl has been in the past, so definitely a bit disappointed.

Read this off and on (mostly off) to Evie (5), probably around 4 sittings total over the space of a month. Most of the time she didn’t want to start but she always sat and listened, the first time was 30 pages or so. Obviously I was delighted to read it as this DEFINITELY COUNTS towards my reading goal. I mean, I could (SHOULD) have been counting all the Elmer books, hungry caterpillar, Julia Donaldson etc anyway! Okay?!

This was cute! My 6 year old liked listening to this one. Clever Mr. Fox is witty and kind- and it’s a good story!! The narration is super entertaining.

I wasn’t into the story like a lot of his other books, I love the movie but I found myself distracted while reading
Just the right level to read to my seven year-old. We disliked the prominence of guns but otherwise this was a fun, fast read.
