Another tantalizing read from Mrs.Smauggy. Opening a new book of hers feels like opening up a new present on Christmas except I can do it year round. Sheās always pumping out novels and Iām always reading them. Her writing, character development, world building, and cyberpunk and scientific world elements are amazing.
Now some things to get off my chest: first off I canāt count how many female MCs in love trysts are named Tessa Marie. I have no issues with Tessaās character per se but she comes off like any other self insert Y/N character with a basic name and personality. With the exception of her disability ( I liked the fact she was a disabled but genius student ), she was overly characterized as the āinnocent sheltered virginā . It sometimes made it hard for me to take her seriously. But I peep we will see a big character transformation for her.
Cicero, Cassius, and Kal-El I all enjoyed. Iām sad that in order for them to shine, Kennyās character essentially had to take a backseat. But each of them had their own unique traits that helped me distinguish them by personality . The spicy scenes were very enjoyable and the more the merrierš
One thing to note is honestly , I donāt even think the BDSM aspect or Age- Gap aspect was relevant to this story. Take away that, and the sex scenes probably couldāve gone the same way due to Tessaās inherent nature. Thereās some formal recognition of BDSM practices and customs but nothing hardcore. Still, I enjoyed myself with this bunch.
Plotwise I felt there were a lot of subplots that got pushed to the wayside for the spiciness but then built back up towards the end. But Iām more than willing to see what book 2 brings. If I had to rank her books Iād say this one is my 3rd favorite, behind āLove an Angel, Screw a Demonā and my all time favorite of hers, āMalevolenceā. The way the book ended, now I definitely have to read Book 2. I already have a bunch of theories in my head about how Professor Dwyer, Tessa, and the 3 Eternals are all connected but I guess Iāll have to wait until next year to confirm it.

Iām not really sure what I read, but I was entertained! This story follows Tessa, a 21 year old who has hearing loss in one ear and a metal plate on her skull due to a tragic event. When invited to a school for the intelligent after being rejected, Tessa starts to experience strange sensations in her body.
Tessa has three professors/mentors who are biogenetic prodigies of Professor Orion Dwyer. Cicero, Cassius, and Kal-El are very similar yet different. They bring out things in Tessa that she has never felt before. Determined to prove that Tessa is āthe oneā, The Eternals move her in with them.
Okayyy!! I really liked this book! One thing I didnāt like was the fact that Tessa is 21 and acts as if she is 17/18. I get being green or sheltered, but come onnnn. The build up of āsteamy scenesā started to get annoying after awhile because I was so anxious for them to get it over with! The burn in here is definitely slowwww. I canāt wait for book 2.

I am very intrigued by the world Smauggy is weaving, this combination of low tech and extremely high tech is really interesting. I think for me this has a lot of elements I donāt personally enjoy when it comes to Tessa, itās an issue I ran into with another series of herās. The emotional growth and maturity of her FMCs is to slow for my enjoyment. Itās the story that I enjoy and it got lost to the relationship. The spicy is top tier. I just really wanted more answers and information. This end on more a gasp moment than a cliffhanger but more for Tessa then the reader.
