I adored this story, The wholesome friendship, the Washington setting (I freaked when Vashon came up on the page <3), and the contrast of Tully’s and Kate’s life ambitions. However, both characters also ticked me off. Tully was so egotistical and selfish, and Kate constantly overloading herself unnecessarily and never attended to her own wellbeing! And Marah was just about the most rotten daughter I’ve ever read. I know, all part of the story, but god did it drive me crazy. Do not read this story if you hate sad endings (books rarely make me cry - this one did), but otherwise I highly recommend!

A great read and extremely realistic characters, my honest reason for this not being a 5 star read is simply because sometimes the characters’ s choices made me so angry it was hard to remember it’s only fiction!
Have tissues ready as the last 50 pages or so made me cry a ton. Another great Kristin Hannah read and I definitely plan to read the sequel.

DNF. I wish Goodreads had this option. Made it to page 82. It’s not that this is a bad book, but it just isn’t doing it for me. I haven’t dnf’d a book in forever. I did not read the trigger warnings prior to starting this book either, but would recommend that. This would probably be a good rainy day read for the right person.

This book was so full of hope and deep emotions through the story of friendships and trials they have.
