Parts were slow moving, as the book is heavily focused on relationships. There were hard parts and I experienced the full range of emotions throughout my reading - anxiety, rage, love, sadness. I recommend this read as long as you've got Kleenex ready and someone to hug when you finish!

Can’t possibly review when I’m still sobbing. Not enough tissues.

I’ve read one other Kristin Hannah book, The Four Winds. The pacing was similar, long and tedious at first, with enough to keep you interested but definitely able to put it down. But then the last quarter of the book is emotional as all get out and impossible to quit.
