Dnf at part 3. I just couldnt get through it =( the audiobook was really difficult to follow. I like the idea of having multiple different actors read a novel as a play, but to hear it in action is really confusing.

Meh. Lots of swearing and manufactured drama. None of the characters seemed worth investing in. interesting storyline, though and it is a classic of the genre.
ok that was honestly incredible i docked a point bc it had a slow start but like....i have SO many thoughts that was a WILD WILD ride
The writing, on a techinical level, is a bit weak; there are a lot of phrase that are quite gripping though! However, it's not the style or the skill that defined The Maltese Falcon. It's that there is only one good human being in the whole book -- the secratery!
Poor Effie has no idea about the world she lives on the fringes of. Sam Spade's foggy Noir San Francisco is steeped with corruption, vendetta and greed. You wouldn't want to live there, but it's not a bad place to visit for a while.
Had the writing been as strong as the story, this would have scored 5 out of 5. However, it's technical flaws cannot entirely br ignored.

This reads like an old time radio show! It was a lot of fun and I loved all of the jargon from that era. It also has a twist at the end that was well played. Classic read.
