2001 Caldecott winner. I enjoyed the fun random presidential facts sprinkled through this lively book. The illustrations were filled with humor to lighten it up too.

This book is facts, fun and stunning illustrations all rolled into one. Who knew, learning about the 'job' of president could be so entertaining?

Illustrated by David Small.

Caldecott Medal Winner 2001.

An okay Caldecott Award winning survey of American Presidents. Just a basic gloss through small details and anecdotes, with good enough art.

Great book and I'm happy to see it's been updated. (My version says no person of color has ever been elected.)The framework is the trivia of president's terms -- but it says a lot about what it takes to do the job. Great for kids at election time. I suspect it's like The Giving Tree though -- not sure I could read it out loud without getting a little teared up.

Although this book is a little dated (written in 2000) at this point, it is a very great book about what it takes to be the President of our country. I could see myself using this in the classroom as a lesson on Presidents Day, and follow it up with a discussion about what the students think it takes to be president. It is outdated, but you can work around that, but adding details while you are reading to students about presidents that have served since the book was written. A great story that made me chuckle, and think about the many great presidents we have had in the United States.

A collection of interesting presidential facts, followed by a chronology of presidents with biological information.
