OMG. Ugh. So ever since I was little I have been obsessed with the Titanic. I will read every non-fiction book even if it's literally the same information and pictures. It's so fascinating and such a tragedy as well. Also any historical novel surrounding this ship can always be a hit or miss. This did not miss. I had an inkling I knew the orphans in question and when I looked up the famous images I knew right away. Celia crafts such a great story from start to finish. Of course it's a little slow, but quickly you are sucked in. I swear one day I read almost 150 pages. I also want to give a shout out to Fidelis Morgan for helping out with the historical research and reading the journey Celia and Fidelis took to find out everything from finding the marriage certificate to reading pages and pages on end of handwritten different divorce records. Margaret Hays and Marcelle Navratil are two powerful women who loved the boys so much. Marcelle's ex-husband off the bat seemed like a scum and honestly got what he deserved. I felt so sorry for Marcelle and I am glad in the end she found her love in her two sons, the only thing her husband did right.
Great read for anyone who loves historical novels surrounding real people with sprinkle of fiction!

I found the first half of this book extremely slow and was going to give up but I thought "one more chapter".
It was the right decision because the book became gripping and the pace faster.
A good mix of facts and fiction, a vivid historical background and an interesting story.
I enjoyed it but you have to be patient.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
