I love meeting the characters & exploring the worlds Ann Patchett creates and that absolutely holds true with this novel. I didn’t love all of the plot, particularly the end, hence my lower rating, but still - an enjoyable journey into the back catalog of an author I love.

It was good as a view into the main character's life but it just felt like part of a tv series...we get the setup, flashbacks and then it just ends. No actual resolution or anything like that.

Sabine is lost after the death of her husband, the magician.  Can she find him and maybe herself by heading to his hometown?  I enjoyed the book and the character development but it felt like something was missing.  Usually I like books with ambiguous endings but I think this one was a bit to abrupt for me.

I had forgotten the summary of the book by the time i had started reading it so i half expected a plot twist where she was going to get kidnapped or something and then it was a thriller instead.
