This is so ghoulishly delightful for Addams Family nerds such as myself. Though I think I would have liked a more chronological approach to structure, I think the character led approach made sense and really contextualized things. It was so fun learning about the development of these characters and just how much the 60s show influenced the later years of the comics. I’m so happy to have this book and look forward to referencing it for doses of macabre and sardonic delights

The drawings by Charles Addams are great, it's nice to see where our beloved Addams Family originated from. Didn't expect there to be so many rough sketches and it's encouraging for me as an artist to see, that even "unfinished" art like that can reach people.
The texts added by Kevin Miserocchi are utterly useless and sometimes downright awkward, though. He has a weird way of describing the female characters and sucks up to Chas' art so much I felt the urge to cover my eyes.

The Addams Family that I am most familiar with is the family from the early 1990s film series, and the cartoon based on the TV show.
I had seen a few of the comics floating around the internet, and of course I knew that the TV show and following films and franchise were based on the comics. So, I was happy to come along this book that includes many, if not all, of the Addams family comics collected in print. The characters are slightly different from those of the TV show and movies, but still exceptionally enjoyable and all together ooky.

I appreciated the organizing principle of introducing each family member as Charles Addams conceived of them, and how the TV shows and movies deviated from them. I also enjoyed seeing the unpublished cartoons that were at times too macabre for publication
I wish there were a complete collection of Addams Family illustrations somewhere, but this will hold me over until then
