I’m feeling pretty lukewarm on this one. The writing, the plot, and the characters were all pretty mediocre. Quite literally nothing happened in the first third of the book and yes, I know that’s usually reserved for world building but it’s was yawning-inducing.
The authors couldn’t decide whether they wanted Fia to be meek and agreeable or stubborn and fierce. Yes, characters are multilayered and blah blah blah but she just felt hollow. The only character trait I was sure of was that she’s whiny. Shout out to the under eye bag representation though 💪🫶
Her friendship with Osta is the bright spot of this book and I like that protecting her was her motivating factor throughout.
I don’t like how Fia acts when things start to get going with the MMC. It felt icky but I have a feeling that’s intentional on the authors part so I’ll let that slide….
I picked this up because people were raving that the second book is amazing and I sure hope they’re right.
slow-paced
Nothing happens in the book until you’re 90% of the way done. It picks up a lot at that point and gets interesting, but was pretty lackluster until that point
