Dark and deliciously spicy, Chill was the perfect ending to the Fair’s Fair trilogy of novellas. I especially enjoyed the mixture of personalities in this series' MCs, with a sassy/snarky FMC in Noa, a grumpy/serious MMC in Kieran (Harrow), and a feral sunshine MMC in Val (Ravage); the banter between them all was a glorious mix of funny, sweet, and sexy as a result. I loved seeing MMCs Val and Kieran’s relationship dynamic more clearly in this story, too. This had been implied in the previous novellas, but seeing them more openly affectionate made the evolution of their romance with FMC Noa feel all the more natural and sweet. And having Kieran drop both “good girl” AND “good boy”? Yeah, I melted. Absolutely melted.

I really vibe with AJ's particular style of dry, dark humour and the morally complex characters she creates, and this series is definitely going on my list of comfort reads. I know I’m going to want to fall in love with these characters again and again.

This trilogy has been one of the best i've read in recent times. AJ really is a master of the MMF love interest set up. I couldn't get enough, rarely can get enough of her writing as it is but this because story coming to an end is some kind of tragedy. There is a type of spooky that AJ writes that is so uniquely hers.

This series was phenomenal.

While not my favourite of the three, another great AJ Merlin book 🖤 Also, are we supposed to have favourites because Kier is definitely mine.

“They won’t change, you know? They can’t change. Not even if they love you. Can you handle that?”

“That’s what I want to find out… One way or the other, I want to know the answer to that question, too.”

No one does an extra spicy slasher romance quite like AJ Merlin. I have loved this MMF novella trilogy, and Chill was the perfect ending. Where Fall was mostly Kieran & Val showing Noa the non-murderous side of their personalities and figuring out a way to ensure she wouldn’t turn them in for the things she witnessed in Haunt, Chill was Noa deciding whether she wanted to return to a normal life or if she was able to see a real future with them regardless of their dark deeds. I loved seeing their relationship developing over the course of these. Now that they are all out, I am going to go back and reread them all from the beginning, that is how much I loved them!

TITLE: Chill
GENRE: Dark Romance
AUTHOR: AJ Merlin
TROPE:  Serial Killer Romance, MMF
TYPE: Trilogy (Fair’s Fair Series Book 3)
POV: First Person
MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5

⚠️ Check trigger warnings; this dark content is for +18 readers

What I liked:
✔️ A quick, dark & spicy read
✔️ Noa’s character (love her!)
✔️ Fast pace read
✔️ MMF
✔️ Dark Serial Killer theme
✔️ Primal MMC

Noa is on a mission, and she refuses to give up after Val & Kieran’s abrupt departure left her hurt and confused. Noa is willing to put in the work, but will Kieran and Val give her that chance? This spicy, dark novella trilogy solidifies why AJ Merlin is one of my favourite dark romance authors. Chill gave me the satisfying ending to the trilogy I hoped for! Chill also falls into the category of dark romance that I will reread, making it worthy of my 5 / 5 Star rating.
