I’m really starting to enjoy this authors work as the third book of hers I have read however this one was perhaps a bit too long.
I found myself pretty tired with it at times and felt I missed things that foreshadowed later plot points.
I did love the super slow burn though and again the feminist positivity. The story itself is one you’re probably aware of but the twists she creates to make the story her own is refreshing. I love that deep down these books (Girl Goddess Queen included) simmer down to ‘The Greek Gods, in particular Zeus, were actually awful and women had no chance against them’.
I was daunted by the massive list of characters at the start in the glossary but you don’t really need to know them all - about a handful of names are really important. So don’t let this put you off.
It’s a good read and I would recommend it but I think the length let it down a bit - saying that I’m not sure what could have been cut 😅

Its a sapphic greek mythology retelling of the trojan which in theory sounds like something I would love but I just had a hard time getting into it. First of all I loved the queer representation, it has an asexual lesbian main character and strong women and its dual pov. I also loved the conversations on sexuality. I feel like there are way too few books with asexual characters and I love reading books with asexual characters. Greek mythology isn’t 100% my thing and I’m not as familiar with this story as I maybe should be but I wanted to read it for the sapphic romance and I’m happy with what I got for the romance
I had a hard time connecting with the story and characters overall and part of that was because of the pacing because the middle felt like it drags on but the ending was a bit rushed. I also usually finish books very fast but for this reading experience we read it over 21 days so that could have something to do with my experience and might have affected how I felt about it.
