Yk what this love story was actually so sweet and I love the queerification of the bachelor however I was sooooo icked by the didactic style -overtly, repeatedly educating readers about the characters identities (first gen, depression, neurodiversity, OCD, panic disorder, queer, demisexual, etc yes these are all just the 2 main characters) and also about other stuff that they felt like preaching about, like a very tumblr core sexuality and mental health crash course
And they do it so often 😭 every time I started to get into the story they pulled me right out of it with asexuality 101 or something like that

I almost can’t put into words how great this book was. Both main characters were so ENDEARING. I loved Charlie and Dev—and their vulnerability!—so much and could have spent another couple hundred pages reading about them and their relationship. But while THE CHARM OFFENSIVE might look like a fun rom-com based around a reality dating show, its focus on and representation of mental health was what made this book five stars for me :)
