This book was so Informative and interesting and a pretty fun read for the material.
I was concerned going into a book focused on male/female sex difference that it would not feel inclusive of gender expansive identities. Though the author focuses on the general “norms” of cis women’s bodies, she discussed trans and gender diverse folks as very healthy and normal parts of existence.
I really enjoyed hearing about the evolutionary biology that has led to the bodies we have today and the ways in which women’s bodies have shaped human existence.

A very informative book on female evolution. Using stories, humor, and tons of research, Bohannon lays the groundwork for respecting how females are really the primary architects of evolution and how the female body evolved the way it did until now. It was well-written and an impassionate plea to reduce sexism in society and to give back to females their rightful and primary status! Excellent book (albeit with too many footnotes, something I can easily overlook)!
This book starts off strong, with its early chapters being grounded in scientific evidence - very interesting peeks into the evolution of mammal's strange reproductive biology! As the book went on, I became more and more frustrated with what felt like an ideological interpretation of human evolution crept in with little to no concrete support. I was disappointed to see a book being framed as feminist and revolutionary end by insisting that sexism was a beneficial, evolutionarily adaptive strategy. The overall tone felt too light to ever be taking the subject material seriously, the slight religious undertone of using the term "Eve" felt a little odd, and Bohannon's distaste for India and the middle east is palpable as she frequently references these cultures in very unfavorable light without much note to the widespread violence against women in our own white, western backyards.
The footnotes are excessive, and the one boo-hooing about the mere concept of women retaliatorily killing child sex traffickers (not even a real suggestion, just the idea of it happening in some alternate universe with strong, protective matriarchal power structures) could've been left out entirely.

Really entertaining and interesting narrative and information. Occasionally felt repetitive which is understandable given the breadth and depth of content.
