In a word... finally. Once again there is SO MUCH that happens in this serious that I am thankful this is the final instalment. While I love to get lost in a world and use the audiobook as the background music to my life, this one was a tough one to finish. At times it was super slow, at other times it was too fast and I found myself asking "who is this??" or "what's happening now???" Would I read it again? Probably not? Am I glad I read it? Sort of, I needed to know the secret to the book of life and Diana getting pregnant, duh.

3.5 stars. I didn't love this book. I found it too busy, too many threads, too much happening at the same time in too short a time span. The story was too tightly woven. Matthew and Diana's relationship didn't shine as brightly as in the first two books.

Finally read the last book of this trilogy, and I think it is easily the best of the three, though it is not without its problems.
It is nearly impossible to talk about this book without spoilers, but suffice it to say that I had a great time meeting all the main characters again and many other secondary characters from the previous books. We also meet a lot of new characters, though most are not really relevant to the plot. I liked that a lot was going on and that I didn’t feel it dragged so much as the previous two novels. I particularly enjoyed the nerdy bits — all the science and alchemy that were part of the plot. However, I feel that some of the main plot points were resolved too fast or without proper explanation, which was a bit of a disservice to the trilogy.
Despite that, this is still one of those types of books that you cannot stop reading. Is it a bit trashy? Yes, it is. Is it the best piece of literature out there? Hell no. But it is really entertaining, and the writing is really accessible and engaging, which, sometimes, is all you need to enjoy a book. It was also fun to compare with the TV adaptation and identify the different approaches that were taken in each medium.
