Wow, this installment really brought it all! Suspense, romance, character development galore... This is how you build on what you've already established as a base for your main characters. I love the introduction of Robin here in a way that seems very organic, Max really gets a time to shine again (her character is so interesting), and, of course, there's our main duo (plus Kong of course). THIS is how you bring Beast Boy and Raven together in an organic way built on mutual trust, experience, and concern for each other. Kudos to this story for not shying away from the emotional aspects of the character's stories and dealing with difficult topics like kidnapping and torture (familiar areas in comics of course). Can't wait to see what happens next!

This was so extremely heterosexual when my love of teen titans is so very gay. Anyway, I enjoy how Picolo draws these characters so I will probably keep picking them up. It does make me roll my eyes a lot though.

No spoilers but this third installment in the Teen Titan's new graphic novel series adds some other team members into the mix, and I am LIVING for it. In fact, the supporting characters were the ones that shined for me in this sequel: the returning character of Raven's foster sister, Max, and one famous addition. The art is excellent, as always, and I love seeing my faves in this new reincarnation.

My only complaint stems from the fact that there was a lot of pressure for the romance to be excellent because it's a canon couple with a lot of hype (from me and from the fandom more broadly) that I carried with me into this read. Raven is one of my characters from any fandom, and not only the original material but also subsequent fan content makes this one of my top ships, as well. This story covers the first meeting of Raven & Gar, and it also tries to fit the start of their friendship and their romantic relationship into one small package. It didn't end up meeting my expectations on that front because the bar was so high. When things felt rushed and even forced to meet the end result, it was a bummer. Plus, there's a secondary romance competing for page space, to make things even more complicated.

I still look forward to the introduction of the full cast of characters (and then some). I need Teen Titan pizza and video game hangouts like I need air, so I can't wait to see them on the page. I'm also excited to see more of their powers in action, especially as a team. I still highly recommend the series. This just happens to be not my favorite of the volumes so far.
