The beginning of this one was rough. I almost shelved it due to the main character and a bad case of second hand embarrassment.

It was cute and I enjoyed it but whoever is Sophie's editor should probably be fired. They missed a major fobar on the second to last page. Honestly, I'm quit a bit surprised the author made this mistake...

Well.. this just wasn't for me. I found it slow, uninteresting, uneventful and honestly, boring.
It wasn't funny, nothing interesting happened, the characters were flat, ridiculous and onedimensional.
I can forgive how predictable the plot was, but there was nothing cute about it. It lacked dept and some events didn't make sense as to why they were happening. The subplot of Laura's parents was more interesting than her own, but still nothing to be excited about. Cousens tried to pull the feminist card (when Laura's friend complains that they only talk about men and that they surely had other things to talk about, or something like that) but fails miserably when clumsy Laura isn't like any other girl - not once, but twice with different men. Also, what was the point of Suki and Jasper ending up together?!
Maybe I got into this with wrong expectations, but this just wasn't the right fit for me.

At first I found it a bit difficult to get into and it seemed a bit toooo predictable and kind of 'over the top' (or a bit TOO unrealistic and kinda staged), but it got better and better with each chapter and I actually didn't wanna put it down anymore. I just personally found the main character Laura way too chaotic and a bit annoying at times. And sometimes her language made me cringe a bit. 😅 I absolutely ADORE Ted tho!!! Such a sweetheart 🥺🫶 was rooting for him all along 😁❤️ I did love how Laura and Ted brought out the best versions of each other when together and their chemistry was beautiful! Overall it was such a cute read and I really enjoyed it (much more than I was expecting within the first few chapters). It was refreshing and fun and I also liked that there was a lot of background/family-stuff going on. Kept it interesting throughout 😇

3.5 stars. I was originally going to round up to 4, because I really enjoyed the humor and the messiness of the situations that protagonist Laura continued to find herself in. But those last 30 pages were just too over the top everything-tied-up-with-a-big-shiny-bow for me. (The first 341 pages were a lot of fun)

3.5 stars. Cute story that would make a good Hallmark Movie.
