3.5 (i think its probably 3 but i love Quan, he deserves an extra half a star)
the ending was weak esp for Quan (who was the MVP of the book, and all three of the books lets be honest). if you have dual POV, it feels a bit weird to end the book only giving a meaningful conclusion to one of the characters and for the other to have like half a page to say - everything worked out, dont worry!
the time skips felt lazy. As if the author didnt have time or space to actually end the story well so a skip of a month/year/two or four happens and the author tells us (doesnt show) that things are fine but who cares why and how we got there.
I liked the romance portion of the book until approx. 70% in, where Quan became a side character and considering how he also had difficulties of his own, which we did not explore nowhere near enough, it felt shallow. we didnt get to see how he progressed, how he overcame the issues he was facing, and how Anna was there for him. it was very one-sided relationship all along but you could feel it esp towards the end. we were just told he was fine.
idk i wanted to love this esp since i have the IC editions, which i love so much, and Quan is literally amazing, but the focus on Anna, who I liked at the beginning and became increasingly frustrated by, just made the book feel like it should have been single POV and even then, the ending was rushed and more of a 'tell' then 'show'
