I enjoyed reading this book! Readers can get immersed in this story. I liked how the book represented the message of the importance of not caring what anyone thinks of you. I enjoyed the writing style and group of characters.

Good young adult graphic novel - loved the main character and the style. Really like the exploration of the ghost history in the place and how the main character bonds with the ghost. It was appealing and fun to read!

What do you do when your a teenage girl trying to fit in and your dad is a famous ghost hunter. Worst yet, you have to help him with an important job removing paranormal spirits from a historic old New Orleans manor and your able to see the spurts and talk to them.

For as long as she can remember, Chelsea has tried everything she can think of to distance herself from her father's work as a “paranormal removal expert," a hard task when he's advertising proudly all over New Orleans! This year, she's finally not seen as the weird “ghost girl” and finally has friends with the popular crowd at her fancy high school.

Things are looking up-until a night on the town with her friends backfires spectacularly, landing her in hot water at home. As punishment, Chelsea now must spend the entire summer working for her dad at Paranormal Removal Services.

Worst of all, her new job reveals an unexpected secret to keep: while Dad hunts ghosts with his own DIY tech, Chelsea discovers that she can actually see them. Not only see the ghosts in the historical New Orleans Harrington Manor, but also feel and speak with them.

And when our protagonist meets the charming 17 year old Oliver, a friendly, kind, and cute spirit, at the mansion her dad is getting a handsome fee to exorcize, she realizes she has to find a way to save his afterlife, even if it risks everything her father's worked for.

I absolutely adored this graphic novel. The characters were fun, the story was interesting and unfolded perfectly with everything tying in together. The artwork in particular here was just so gorgeous. I actually stopped several times while reading it just to admire it. Funny enough, I discovered this gem of a book at a local bookstore in my town that I’d never gone too before so just a reminder to always check your local areas bookstores because you’ll never know what you’ll discover.

i really enjoyed this story and felt like it was pretty unique. i loved the MC, Chelsea, and the dynamic with her family and the ghosts. the art was so good and the color palette was engaging. i appreciate the way they tell the stories of the manor’s past and don’t necessarily sugar-coat anything but they still keep in mind the targeted age group and keep the details age-appropriate while still shedding light on the atrocities of American history.

with that being said, i was a bit confused as to why the 2 friends of the MC (Jasmine and Alexis) and their microaggressions were not addressed in the story. i thought it was being brushed off in the beginning to later be discussed further in the plot, but this never happened. Chelsea learned about a hidden activist from a historically racist family and helped bring him the recognition he deserved all while going back to being buddy buddy with her “friends” that said racist things to her.

I also could have missed something and maybe it was all jokes all along and nothing needed addressing, but it just didn’t seem like jokes to me.

despite not liking Chelsea’s “friends”, i still really liked this book and the story. it was cool to see how Chelsea became comfortable with her gift while unraveling the truth about Oliver’s life (and death). i still think Chelsea should’ve blasted Uncle Garrett tho.
