I'm so surprised I haven't seen more buzz around this book, this read was incredible!!! Every single character is so loveable and multidimensional, I didn't dislike a single character (minus that one guy at the end but that's a given LOL). Chelsea's parents were phenomenal characters, they really balanced the line between being good parents while also being fun and engaging characters; I loved that her mom was a historian and her dad was a ghost hunter.
Also! All the lore around the former plantation turned mansion! I loved how upfront the authors were about the history of plantations as well as showing young readers a bit of light in the history of New Orleans, all tied together with a healthy dose of the supernatural (Roman the cat is the BEST ghost bar none).
This is one of my new favorite graphic novels and I'm so glad I picked it up on a whim at the library, knowing not a single thing about it!

"Tell me you'll meet me in the garden" 🌺🌸🌼
"I suppose I'm dead anyway. What have I really got to lose?" 👻💀
"Now what's this about Chelsea seeing a boy?"
"Um, I guess you could technically call it seeing, but not really... it's complicated."

LOVED THIS. Picked this up for the concept (ghost hunters!) and stayed for the art, characterization, and societal critiques! I’ve really been enjoying juvenile graphic novels lately and I think it’s because they’re often that perfect balance of lightheartedness while still providing accessible social commentary. 10/10 would recommend for fans of ghosts and cute spookiness!
