Huh… don’t know what it was exactly. Maybe the 124 side characters and their entire backstory when they only had a three minute conversation. Maybe.
But the story could not keep me excited and entertained enough after 24% to pick it up again. So there’s that.

Slow, characters unlikeable, not a “romantic comedy”-a quarter of the way through and still no idea who the main character is spared to fall in love with
Loved the idea of this story, but had a really hard time connecting to the characters.
Im not rating this because I could see how other people would enjoy it, it just super wasn't for me.
Charlotte is an admin at a highly successful London hedge fund, working very long hours for a couple of seriously Type-A bosses. Her best friend and roommate Maddie has just moved out of their flat to live with her fiancee and is busy with wedding planning. Feeling a tad sorry for herself, Charlotte is digging deep into her favorite ice cream, contemplating just how dull her life has become, lacking in romance or even a casual date, when she comes across a podcast called Sorry Not Sorry: a Bad Girl's Guide to Dating. Charlotte starts listening to it and gradually starts following its advice, which seems to be working because Charlotte meets and falls for a handsome architect.
Of course nothing goes smoothly, either with romance, work, new roommates, or her best friend's wedding. Yet you grow to really like Charlotte and all the secondary characters, and cheer her on as she grows and gains confidence and takes risks to define a happier life. There is a lot of wry humor in Charlotte (at one point I actually snorted when Charlotte describes herself as having a 'great resting bitch face'), and the story flows lightly and quickly.
It is very British chicklit, in the style of [a:Sophie Kinsella|6160|Sophie Kinsella|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1245821549p2/6160.jpg], [a:Katie Fforde|86097|Katie Fforde|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1270774921p2/86097.jpg], and [a:Isabel Wolff|133715|Isabel Wolff|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1247597902p2/133715.jpg]. The author has written sequels that continue the stories of many of the secondary characters. I will definitely check them out when I need a bit of contemporary light slightly steamy romance.

I just couldn't get into this book at all. The beginning is very slow and even though it kinda picks up around 50%, The story line was what I expected from a rom com, I just found myself getting distracted over and over. Wasn't good. Wasn't bad. Was just OK.
