I almost didn't finish this one. It had so much potential, and then was.... very indelicately executed. Our girl Alys is straight up in yellowface for like 2/3 of the book. There's a lot of discussion of the importance and value of traditional gender roles. I've really liked this series for its emphasis on using everyone's strengths to come together and solve the problem, but this one spoiled the message with the racism and sexism.

Perfect conclusion, even though it ended up not being the final one.
In this book they go to Nihon-Ja, which is a Japanese-inspired fictional country. I really liked that they were all traveling again and the individual adventures they got into. However, most of the book was going over strategies for the civil war they are helping with in the country and that took away the charm of the work the Rangers usually do.
