This collection of short stories is well written, although I found a lot of the content quite depressing. I most enjoyed the story 'Why Won't Women Just Say What They Want'.
Graphic: Death of parent, Medical content, Misogyny, and Grief
Moderate: Alcohol, Cancer, Chronic illness, Sexual content, Death, and Racism
Minor: Blood, Classism, Gun violence, Mass/school shootings, Police brutality, Addiction, Alcoholism, and Pregnancy

Granted, I had very little idea of who this author way, or what these stories were about, but they were a wonderful and satisfying surprise.
These stories are all on the long side of short stories, and that length serves them well and allows for characters to be unusually well developed. I loved the themes of memory, history and the many layers on which events are experienced and interpreted.
I especially loved the structure of these stories - they unfold beautifully, and are full of fun surprises and sentences in which the entire story changes from beginning to end. I did feel like some of this was a little overwritten, and there were times when the writing felt needlessly convoluted, but overall, I really liked this collection!
