I liked Sangu Mandana's Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, and I loved this book as well! It was a nice chill stop on my summer horror train. It was a little slow, but that may be because I've been used to thriller and horror fast pacing in the last couple weeks. Nice cozy read for my rainy day!

taking off a star because
why did the main character have to lose her magic :’( the entire book was based around the mc trying to get her magic back, and it was so disappointing that after all of her hard work, sacrifices, and time she still lost all of her magic. i think she should’ve been able to at least go back to how she was before.
but the characters and the vibes??? absolutely magical. i love Mandanna’s writing.

I won’t be able to find enough superlatives to fully articulate how much I love this book! It is the best book! It’s fucking perfect!

So cute, warm, and bursting with love. This is even better than TVSSOIW. Yes, really! I’m obsessed with every character. What stood out above everything to me is how tenderly Mandanna writes neurodiverse and disabled characters. I was not expecting to cry over people buying dozens of toothbrushes, as a one liner—not even a major plot point or whole scene!

This book is beautiful. Please read it. Then hug your skeletal rooster.

This is a beautiful book with delightful characters, a well paced and imaginative plot and so much heart. Written with grace and humor I was entertained and enraptured the entire time, invested in the characters and transported into their world. I love the tapestry of abilities and disabilities, challenges and strengths and different experiences of family woven through the main characters. It brings authenticity, beauty and richness to the text.

Another great read from Sangu Mandanna. This one had me kicking my feet while getting hit with really reflective questions about the past we carry and how that shapes us as people. I loved every single character in this and the atmosphere of the Inn was just downright COZY! You definitely don't need to read The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches before this one, but I highly encourage that you do because I also LOVED that one. Spice Level: 1.5/5 (some dirty talk, fade to black).
