Will update this later but I’m just so pissed off rn

literally fuck off. I hate pregnancy trope endings so much.

Also, since when is 1,70 m considered tall?

This story stars two Jounalists, Alice and Hayden. It also stars Margaret, who was a famous socialite from a powerful media family before she disappeared around 20 years ago. Margaret invites Alice and Hayden to compete to write her memoir. Alice is sunshine (I initially thought a little too much so) and Hayden is grumpy (I initially felt a little too much so). There was a little too much insta-lover/insta-lust in this story for my tastes. Ultimately, I did like Alice and Hayden and wanted the relationship to succeed. A big part of the story is the mystery of Margaret's and her family's past. I found the gradual reveals really interesting. I liked the supporting characters. The story was a little iffy for me at first. It had a good middle. And a really strong finish. Emily Henry went in a different direction with this book than her too other books that I read, Happy Place and Funny Story. Credit to her for doing so. I did feel that parts of this story didn't quite ring true for me in ways that Happy Place and Funny Story did. There were some graphic sex scenes in this book. They didn't use crude language. There is some sexism related to how women were viewed in the movie industry in the mid 20th century. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a good romance with an interesting mystery as a backdrop. If the issues I mention are a problem for you, you might not want to read it. This book confirms that Emily Henry is a must buy author for me

I enjoyed this even if it felt a little different than other books I have read by Emily Henry.
Alice and Hayden were cute but they fell just a little too fast for me personally.
I guess it kind of mirrored Cosmo and Margaret though.
I liked their dynamic a lot though.
I did find myself being ripped between the romance and the storytelling and that was jarring at certain points. Honestly I cared more for the storytelling for most of the book and got frustrated when I had to read through the romance bits to get back to it. That said all of it tied together very nicely in the end. I think I would enjoy it more if I read it again.
I see the comparisons to other popular books and while I slightly agree I think this story is different enough to be its own thing.

I liked this book and enjoyed reading it a lot. I do see the connection to TJR, especially to Evelyn Hugo, but it was an entirely different book in terms of structure.

Unfortunately, I was not so invested in Margaret's story, I believe it could have deserved more "show, don't tell" and I while the "stories" had a different writing style, which made them more authentic, I like Emily Henry's general writing style better.

Then again, I enjoyed reading about Alice and Hayden a lot.
