So good, very "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo"-esque but happier. Less Rom-com than her other books, more romantic fiction. Heartbreaking and healing at the same time. Wonderful.

Not my favorite EmHen book, but also not my least favorite.

Give me an Emily Henry audiobook narrated by Julia Whelan and I’m a happy girl. OMG this story was just so compelling and fascinating I literally could not put it down until it was finished. The narrative is split into two perspectives and each are equally enthralling - which can be really rare! This is the grumpy/sunshine trope but done in a really unexpected way. I LOVE THIS BOOK AND I LOVE EMILY HENRY.

Entertaining, funny, with some romance. Just the right amount of everything to make it an easy read but still exciting.

Though I found this just as readable and easy to enjoy as every other Emily Henry, it likely won't rank near the top for me. I had a hard time seeing how the characters fell in love other than proximity. I didn't like that Alice basically
ghosted her FWB/situationship
. And this is just a personal pet peeve of mine but I'm sorry, if you're
making each other orgasm then you are having sex. At one point Alice and Hayden said they "hadn't slept together yet..." because they hadn't had PIV yet. PIV is not the end all be all of sex.
I guess that was just too hetero for me lol.

And the ending... As a
childfree person, getting pregnant and having a baby is not a happily ever after for me. What happened with their careers?
idk it was sweet though, and I'm sure there's something in it for other readers. To me this one just felt a little shallow, unfortunately. The flash backs to Margaret's life eventually grew on me, but it almost felt like this was two different book ideas put together without enough cohesion. That said, the twist that brought it together was clever and I did like that. So again, not my favorite by Henry but I remain a completionist and will still look forward to her next book.

This definitely seems more along the lines of fiction with romance, but not a capital R-romance if that makes sense, and that's okay!

I was so bored and I feel like I've read this book before. I put down my print copy and then listened to the audio (thank you PRH Audio for the ALC), which was much better because Julia Whelan is an excellent narrator. I could listen to her forever. However.... altogether though, this was an EmHen flop (to me)
