Still funny but the writing's not as good as earlier books. And it was enough that Stephaie was torn between ranger and morelli but now she had to through in diesel. Very much over kill.
Think I am done with this series, too predicable and nothing ever really gets resolved, might check in again but not for awhile....seems like a soap opera...and the jokes are getting old.

Having Diesel in the main series was actually not a delight. I probably wouldn’t have minded if I hadn’t read his spin off series. But since I’ve read the between the numbers series this book felt like a betrayal of Diesel’s character. The plot of the book was solid though.
Potato Chip Book
I love reading this series because they’re like potato chips. Not super substantial, but satisfying and easy to consume a lot.

I’ve skipped a few of the last half dozen of these, with no apparent impact other than that they are getting worse. Nowhere near the humor of the earliest books. Now it’s just regurgitated and uninspired. Won’t be bothering with any more of these.
It began well. I loved the early scene involving the raccoons. It was great to see Diesel again. The snake hunt was fun. The early chapters implied that Stephanie had finally made a choice between Joe and Ranger. Those are the only reasons I gave it a 2 star instead of a 1.
The book meandered along after the early, promising chapters. Diesel disappeared from the narrative completely, and Joe, while still present from time to time, was sidelined. There was far too much emphasis on the so-called zombies. Evanovich went over the top again with Lula, but what's new? I skipped ahead, far ahead, to discover where the story was going to go. There is a resolution, but by the time I arrived, I truly didn't care.
Formulaic, misused characters (Diesel, Joe), no real plot line. Unless you really love Stephanie being her usual air headed, indecisive self, don't bother. The few fun scenes don't make up for its utter pointlessness.
