I will die on this hill telling everyone this is one my favourite books ever...and I don't like reading non-fiction books! But this was such a joy and hope anyone thinking about picking this up does as I hope you find it a beautiful tale and it will stick with you for many years after too.

The writing is easy to get in to. The story is compelling. Juan Salvado is so easy to love. Tom may have made some ridiculous youthful decisions, but he was clearly always trying to do what was best - even if you wonder in hindsight if his decision really WAS that smart. :)

This was a fantastic book. I loved it and didn't want to put it down. You felt like you knew Juan Salvador and like he was in your life. you grew attached to him throughout the book. There were funny moments and heartwarming moments with a great overall message. I will admit to shedding some tears though. would highly recommend this book to anyone (especially penguin lovers)
