Really old fashioned gender roles (not in a charming way) and kind of a bizarre plot with shallow characters that aren't particularly admirable. I know it's a classic and I think I enjoyed it as a kid but I did not enjoy it when I read it to my kid this time.

read in 3rd grade read aloud

This was a fun little read aloud, and we look forward to watching the Jim Carey movie. It was a short chapter book with short chapters that were easy to ready for just 10 minutes at a time. The book has some dated language at times, but overall it was a good book!
lighthearted

Very silly. My 4 year old enjoyed it

I loved this book so much when I was a child. I never stopped praising it until today. Haha, I just don't remember why I loved it so much. I can't find my copy anymore though. :( But, I bet that book was really nice. Penguins are cool anyway! Childhood book and I still can't forget the title :)

Such an adorable, funny story. What took me so long to read this book?

Mr Popper contributes so little to the household in the months he's off work that his wife thinks it would be less work for her if he's not around. I did not like him at all, and the story was so-so.

I read this to the boys. David thought it was "good" and his favorite characters were the penguins. Dean liked the jail scene.

I read the paperback.
