Overview: Oh my goodness. I did not expect to love this book as much as I did. Yes, I've enjoyed this author's previous books a lot, but this one is just brilliant. I admit I don't like ar or painting, which is written about a lot on this book, but it didn't matter. Mills is a great MC and I loved her straight away. It didn't matter that I didn't have anything in common with her.
Good Points: Okay, so the prologue is freaking awesome. If that doesn't have you hooked then nothing will! I loved the story and enjoyed the drama and events that unfolded. I thought the writing style was easy to read. I love first person POV anyway. The best bit...there's more books in this series to come. Yey!
Not so Good Points: The only thing I'll say is that while I did guess the killer, it didn't diminish the story for me in any way. There weren't loads of twists and shocks, but again, it didn't matter to me. The story sold itself.
Thank you to the author for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review. A brilliant thriller that you should read right now!

“Girls are dying in the town of Volga, and no one seems to be talking about who or what is behind their deaths. Emily Ellis, aka Mills, knows her talent as an artist has a purpose: to tell the stories of girls who are no longer able to tell their stories themselves.”
I enjoyed the plot of this book. It was unique, well written and, to me, was a bit creepy and really dark. When I read a book, I always play it out in my head like a movie. (I am shocked to learn not everyone does this lol

4.5 stars!
Paint by Murders is the first book I've read from author Amanda Jaeger, and it won't be the last one.
To be honest, I wasn't sure I would enjoy this book all that much. The pre-publication blurb sounded interesting, but with the main character being a young female student I assumed it would me more of a Young Adult story than a gripping mystery / thriller.
One day I'll learn to stop assuming things...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sucked in from the prologue, it was hard to put down. Creepy and dark at times (in that good way), the characters were well-developed (maybe just a *smidge* more development would be good) and the story held my interest up to, and beyond, the last page.
Beyond the last page? Yes, this is the first book in a series, and I'm looking forward to the next books.
Paint by Murders is well worth losing a little sleep over. Believe me, you're going to stay up too late flipping pages.
Appreciate the ARC from the author!
