This is a heartbreaking book with a powerful story. I think almost every kid has undergone what Ellie's experienced. So that this book is really suitable for kids. Like... they have to learn with Ellie's case about starfishing. How she's not going to try to hide herself or make herself small anymore. How she's proud to be her and to claim her right to take up space. Speak bravely, defend themselves, and have anti-bullying character. No matter how skinny or how fat you are, you have a right to be seen, to be respected, to be heard, to be treated like a human, and to be loved by everyone.

This is a MUST HAVE for your middle grades collections. Ellie's voice is poignant, truthful, and heartbreaking....and heroic. Thank you Lisa Fipps for this debut novel! And thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy.

This book is heartbreaking and something everyone should read. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to read it!

This book didn’t take too long to read- written in verse it has so much to talk a about with middle grade readers- relationships, our own relationships with our bodies and how others see us. Powerful, sad and inspiring.

Beautiful, heartbreaking, heart-wrenching read. Should be on every woman’s and girl’s reading list.
