Gripping and fantastic
A gripping read from the get go, each twist was unexpected and kept you at the edge of your seat. It feels like a royal hunger games but without the outright violence at every turn. Dystopian, post apocalyptical fiction done right.
Couldn't put it down as I just needed to know what happened to Zea-Mays next

Very long read but I enjoy it! The game itself are brutal though!
Someone who knows what I like to read recommend this series to me, so I decided I’d try the first book and give it a shot. YA is not my favorite, but I do read some. At first, I wasn’t sure I would like it, but something about this really drew me in. I haven’t read the Hunger Games or the other series, so I don’t really have those to compare it to. I do admit that I think this book needed to be a little shorter as there were a little too many twists and turns and inner dialogues to bog down the story a little bit. However, I really did quite enjoy this well-written story, and I was left wanting to read the next one. What more can you ask for? Recommend.
I was gonna give 2 stars but damnit I'm compelled to read the rest of the series.
I feel like this book took a lot of elements of other series and tried (and failed) to blend them all together. (The selection, red queen, even hunger games..)
The writing made me mad and skim through parts. Some sections dragged, others moved so quickly I was left in shock. Sometimes I'd be reading something and have no idea where it came from. Wtf
And zea. We get it. You're on a ~mission~ and you ~love~ ryce. Shut up. Focus on not dying ffs.

Great world building, I found myself getting attached to the characters! I could see this being a 5 Star series, and I'm excited to read more.
Zea is relatable as a young girl who wants more for her community while also finding love. The political intrigue is very Hunger Games, and the "princess trials" are much like the Selection but much more entertaining.

This had everything I look for in a dystopian novel. A strong and determined lead, a twisted society, a plan for a rebellion, intense action scenes, and twists and turns that keep the story unpredictable and exciting.
Phangloria is a dystopian world where your bloodline determines your place in society. It’s a world that has hoarded all of the health and advances in technology at the top while pitting those on the bottom against one another and limiting their resources. It’s a world where even looking at a guard the wrong way can label you a traitor.
The princess trials are anything but normal this time around. There are underground rebellions, territories with a grudge, advanced technology, and a few who are willing to do anything to be the next queen.
The very premise of the book is about an underlying romance and becoming the prince’s desire. I love the slow burn. Ryce was the goal at the beginning, but his ideas of liberation come with retaliation against those who are unaware of the system they benefit from. Kevon wants change from the top, down, but he doesn’t have that power yet, and those that do are trying to control his future.
The first book of this series left me excited and eager for what happens next. There are so many secrets, plans, and lies swirling around. Everyone has an agenda and it’s hard to tell what will happen next or what Zea will decide to do or where her allegiances will lie.

What a story! This is touted as The Hunger Games meets The Selection and that's absolutely true. I really get those vibes from this and it made for a fantastic read. There were twists I didn't expect and I couldn't put it down! I liked Zea and was really interested in the trials. Phangloria and The Trials are brutal, corrupt, and deadly.
I can't wait for the next book
