I enjoyed this book in the Anne of Green Gables series, but Anne becomes a tertiary character, her kids become secondary characters and the book follows the lives and trials of the minister’s children in the manse.
It was charming, and I loved the ending, I just dislike how Anne and her kids are hardly part of the story line at this point.

I love Anne of Green Gables, and many of the sequels, but this was just boring. I didn't care at all about anything that was happening.

Digital audiobook read by Pam Ward.
Book seven in the classic series about Anne Shirley and her family. Anne’s six children have discovered their own “magical” place where they can play and indulge their imaginations. When a new family moves into an old mansion nearby, they welcome the Meredith kids into their hideaway. And the children are intent on several projects.
These books are just delightful reads. A nice gentle escape from today’s harsher realities. Yes, there are missteps and some tragic occurrences – life is like that. But on the whole, they are full of charming characters, believably innocent fun, and a few humorous miscalculations. The children learn that actions and words have consequences. Anne has grown into a wonderful mother, caring and supportive, guiding her brood towards adulthood.

Other reviewers have complained about this entry in the series, because it doesn't focus on Anne or even her immediate family. But I really enjoyed it, and felt it recaptured some of the irrepressible charm of 'Anne of Green Gables' - helped by truly excellent narration in the Karen Savage read Librivox audiobook.
