Don't like Rose. At all. Really liked Arthur and Win though
Liked the story up until the very end when all the action was happening. The way a lot of it was written made it kinda confusing and a lot of things contradicted themselves even within the same page. Plus some things just didn't make sense. So a lot just really annoyed me towards the end. But I will continue. Don't know if I will buy it or just get it from the library though.

This book tells the story of eleven-year-old twins Arthur and Rose, who end up back in the magical world they thought they had just imagined when they were younger. I think this would be a book some older elementary students (fourth and fifth graders, likely) would enjoy because the protagonists are their age and the book deals with overcoming fears and believing in oneself.

Fun middle-grade read with some genuinely funny moments (Wininja stole the show in my opinion). The world building really does feel like somewhere a child would create. The author either has siblings or did their research, because the twin protagonists' relationship had the right about of sibling bickering without being overly malicious or snarky. Lovely light read with heart in it. Will be checking out the sequel.

This was a lot of fun! I love the idea of creating an imaginary world as a child that then really exists, with all the silly and childish things and rules. And that's why at times it felt a little cringe, but that makes sense: being in a world you created when you were so young is bound to feel occasionally cringe the older you get. I did really like Roar and the different aspects of it.
I really liked the characters, though Rose did get on my nerve a bit at the beginning. I didn't really understand why she treated her brother that way, like I get that she was growing up a bit faster and wanted to do other things, but come on... it's not like Arthur was being genuinely annoying or teasing her or anything. He just wanted to spend time with his sister. That was really my only nit pick.

I read a lot of children's books so I can recommend them to my students. On the whole I read them cover to cover. This one I only managed a few chapters before I got bored. I think my students would likely enjoy it, but it's not the best fantasy/adventure children's book I've read.

Average fantasy for children.
