EEEKK!!!! This book :)

Let me drink a cup of water before i start to review.
Oh God! That was incredibly fascinating book! My favorite topics- space travel, dystopian future)) The ideas, the story, the characters are fantastic! Especially the marvelous plot! I haven't enjoyed reading YA fiction as much as this book since Rick Riordan books. And that book kept me on the edge, sleepless and made my heart break into tiny pieces...
Amy: She was great character! One of the best characters in YA fiction. She is clever, independent, reasonable, brave. Really brave.
Elder: Oh-huh. I liked him first. Then came his lustful thoughts about Amy. I don't judge him really, he was brought up like this. But then the ending! Why?? Okay, maybe he will be great in the next books.I want to love him.
Harley: Oh my little fish! Oh my.. He is fantastic character! My favorite..
Eldest- dictator freak!
Doc- emotionless stupid!
Orion: Go to hell!(freezing hell, uhahahaha)
I give it all my stars! Great, great, great!
PS: I figured out the antagonist before the first half of the book. I am genius :P okay maybe not, as I see everyone found out it)
AGAİN PS: İ almost forgot the "armenian genocide" issue....i hope it was not intentional. That is why maybe I better give it 4,5 stars(

Good idea, even if it isnt the first of its kind. Decent plot, if a bit predictable. I like the unique parts, and I may give the rest of the series a go as well. Solid middling sort of book.

Really really love this book! I never thought I would enjoy reading a sci-fi based novel!! :D The story is so exciting!!! Can't help but start reading the next book! :P

What a waste of an interesting premise.

Did not finish. Maybe made it halfway

Amy is one of the many people from earth who were cryogenically frozen to be shipped off to another planet that will take 300 years. The people on board the ship to make sure it runs has drastically changed. One Eldest who "leads" them and is training the next Elder to take over to lead the next generation. For some reason Amy was woken up and tries to discover why and who has been murdering the other cryo people. A society with tech advancements, but the people who don't seem very intelligent. Amy and Elder work together to uncover truths. A very engaging read that makes you think and brings up really good discussion topics. I can't wait to read the rest of the trilogy to find out what happens.

This book was even better the second time around. I had read it about a year ago, so I decided it was about time for a reread. I'm definitely going to read A Million Suns ASAP.

This book is similar to the recent movie Prometheus, there are so many similarities! I loved the movie so I had such high hopes for Across the Universe. I am so glad I read this! I can't think of anything I didn't like about this book other than the romance which was a little too slow for my taste. :P And probably the length of the book, it was a bit too long.

The characters were all amazing! Can't imagine what the rest of the series would be like since this was Beth Revis's debut novel. I loved, Amy, Elder, Harley etc. I found myself relating to all the characters, I could imagine myself in their shoes and understand why they did what they did. It was really amazing because I am only usually able to relate to one or two characters in the book. Amy was such a realistic character, I think Beth Revis really did a great job for this one. Elder took a little more to understand and I was so so so glad that he came clean to Amy in the end. I would really hate it if he kept that secret forever. :/

The pacing was also done really well. I didn't feel bored, although the setting did get a little boring after awhile since they were in a spaceship... It really added to the whole tone of the book though. Really makes you think about how crazy it is to live your entire life in a metal container, going to the same old places over and over again until you die. There is also a dystopian element to Across the Universe and I am really hoping that it doesn't play such a huge part in the sequel: A Million Suns. I guess I am getting really sick of the whole cookie cutter dystopian books.

The twists and lies really worked and they were done so well, this was definitely a page-turner! I highly recommend everyone to read this!!! :D This is a new favourite, can't wait to get my hands on A Million Suns!

Recommended for anyone who enjoys space sci-fi or just a good book!!

I'm afraid to review this book because I might give away too much. It's pretty intense and I couldn't put it down. Amy is your typical teenage girl, who decides to follow her parents to a new planet instead of staying on Earth with her boyfriend and everyone she knows. She and her parents are frozen and are supposed to be woken 300 years in the future when they land on their new planet but Amy is woken up too early. Unable to be refrozen, Amy is stuck on a strange ship, in the future where her friends have been dead for centuries on Earth and her parents still frozen. She meets Elder, the only other person on the ship who is her age and is the future leader of the ship. Together they must unravel the secrets of the ship and save her parents and the other "frozens" from the same fate as her or worse death.

Beth Revis characters are real and even though the action takes place on a spaceship, centuries into the future, the situation seems real. You are thrown into a mystery of who is trying to kill off the frozen and what does it have to with the strange behavior of the people. As, Amy and Elder try to unravel the secrets they must also watch out for Eldest, the tyrannical leader of the ship. While you read their story, you are confronted with questions of what is truly right and wrong. What would you if you are a leader of thousands of people, who are far from their planet of origin and their destination? How far do you go to keep people alive and thriving? There are so many ethical questions that all the characters struggle with and after reading, I'm not sure I necessarily agree or disagree with what is done or what Elder decides to do. I hope one of my friends dedice to read it so we can discuss but I also hope others read it becuase it was a very good book!
