I listened to the audiobook. I liked it ok. It's been over a decade since I read the first one though. I probably would have liked it less if I had read them too close together. Some people say the guy is the wrong narrator because he doesn't sound 17....well newsflash...Edward isn't 17. I think it adds to the story in that he is over 100 years old trying not to fall in love with a 17 year old. I agree it is a little long and should have maybe been edited some, but it obviously had to be longer than Twilight because it is all about what Edward thought about everything. I also liked hearing more about the Cullens.

As much as I was team Edward as a kid the man is insanely boring. And the writing style is dense but not in a fun way

Bleh. Pretty repetitive. Mildly enjoyable for nostalgia and how long I waited to read it.

Pacing issues, could have been edited into a 200-300 page book. A lot of repitition in what Edward does. Not much substance to both character and plot. Would probably be an interesting insight to a Twilight fan.

Updated Review: I went back to this book after DNFing the first time, this time with a physical copy of the book instead of the audiobook and I really enjoyed it this time around! There were many times actually when I preferred it to the original! Glad I gave it another shot!

Original review: It pains me to say it but this was a DNF for me. I unironically loved the original series and even Life and Death when it came out in the anniversary edition but this was 5 times longer than it should have been. I get that she had been sitting on it a while but the original unfinished draft was significantly better than what was published recently. Even with a great audiobook reader I couldn't get through it. Y'all the audiobook is 28 hours long. Just no.
Sorry Steph, love ya but not your best work.
