Good book. Great information on Li's life and life and policies in China and how they have changed over the years.
There is a movie of this book too.

Very deep and inspirational. It's one of the very few autobiographies I have read and I enjoyed it. Gave a great insight to Li Cunxin's life in China and the hard times. I loved reading it, especially with all the details of ballet and his performances.

I loved reading this book. He has an incredible story and is a great story teller. Definitely recommend

Fascinating story about life in China.

Apparently I bought the young readers version, but according to at least one review there isn't much of a difference. Anyway, thought it was very interesting but a bit stilted in style.
inspiring

Wow this is a stunning story that I honestly believe many should read. The writing is simple but not without much wisdom, hardship, and triumph of spirit through love, courage, and perseverance.

I loved this book so much, and I'm tempted to give it 5 stars by how much I enjoyed it, though there are some parts it was a little clunky. That being said, this book really speaks to what it is like to have grown up in poverty in the end of the era of Mao, and the transition into China's government's shifting policies. Li Cunxin has an inspiring story, and I find that many in the West need to take this book in and read.
